For patients suffering from ulcers and gastritis, one must be very careful about what they eat. Some dishes result in the deterioration of the health situation of the patient. On the contrary, some dishes manage the situation and remedy it.

Both illnesses relate to intestinal issues, and they are therefore treated similarly. A patient suffering from Ulcer may eat similar foods to a gastritis patient. Both patients are also expected to stay away from the same types of food.

What Is Ulcer?

An ulcer is an intestinal injury, a sore on the lining of the stomach intestines. Ulcers are like bruises, like the type you see on your skin, except it’s now in the stomach. Ulcers are often located in the small intestine and can also be on the throat.

Ulcers located in the intestine are called duodenal ulcers, while ones situated in the stomach are called gastric ulcers. Ulcers located in the throat are called esophageal ulcers.

Indeed, ulcer issues are devastating. Helicobacter pylori, a bacterial infection, is responsible for the condition. This causes the acids from foods to cause discomfort and pains. [1]

Symptoms of Ulcer

The symptoms of an ulcer vary depending on how severe the Ulcer is. For less severe Ulcers, symptoms may include:

  • Stomach pain, especially one that wakes the person at night
  • Low appetite
  • Discomfort during meals and drinking
  • Burning pain in the stomach
  • The following symptoms are seen when the Ulcer becomes severe
  • Vomiting blood
  • Weight loss
  • Back pain
  • Nausea

What Is Gastritis?

Gastritis refers to every form of a gastric case involving inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It is usually caused by similar bacteria that cause stomach ulcers. It is also caused by taking in the wrong food, alcohol, and excess pain relievers. [2]

Gastritis may advance suddenly or appear slowly. Gastritis that occurs unexpectedly is called acute gastritis. Gastritis that takes a much more gradual process is chronic.

Symptoms of Gastritis

Just like ulcers, gastritis displays severe signs or symptoms. Symptoms of gastritis include:

  • Nausea
  • Burning ache and pain in the abdomen
  • Indigestion
  • Vomiting

Foods for Ulcer and Gastritis

Pasta and chicken diets are actually healthy for an ulcer or gastritis patient. However, extra measures must be taken when the meal is being prepared. Pasta and chicken foods that are fried or heavily spiced might not be a good option. [3]

There are several choices for ulcers and gastritis. Among the many, these three prove most outstanding:

  • Chicken broccoli with pasta
  • Chicken picatta pasta
  • Roasted garlic cream sauce

For this post, I shall elaborate more on my favorite, chicken broccoli with pasta.
