Frequently Asked Questions - Twins Days Festival (2024)

Frequently Asked Questions - Twins Days Festival (1)

When is the festival?

Twins Days occurs on the FIRST FULL WEEKEND in August (the first Fri-Sun weekend where all three days are in August).

The 2024 Twins Days Festival will take place on August 2, 3 and 4.

Is the Twins Days Festival only for twins?

The Twins Days Festival is open to the public. Twins are encouraged to register (either on line prior to the event or at the festival) to be able to participate in the twins related activities and to be included in the official count.

What about non-identical twins?

There are many non-identical twins who attend the Twins Days Festival. There are also triplets and quadruplets all multiple birth siblings are welcome!

Is this festival only for children?

The attendees every year range in ages from newborns to octogenarians. There are many kids who have been coming to the festival for many years, and it has turned into an event they look forward to attending.

Can my friend/mom/spouse come too?

Friends and family are encouraged to attend. The festival is a great opportunity for parents to meet other parents of multiples.

Do we have to dress alike to attend?

Many twins feel that dressing alike is part of the fun of the festival, including boy/girl twins, to show their common bond. It is not a requirement to attending, and many sets of twins and multiples do not dress alike.

I see everyone talking with each other, and I feel awkward not knowing anyone!

It’s a common worry for twins who are attending for their first time. — It seems like everyone has always known each other and some feel like they’re “intruding”. While it’’s true that many deep bonds of friendship have been formed over the years at the festival, everyone came to Twins Days for their first time once! Simply walk up to people and say “hi!” Regular festival-goers enjoy meeting new people as well as catching up with old friends. When you return for your second festival and are greeted by all the people who remember you from your first year, you’’ll see how easy it is to become a part of the huge “Twins Days family”.

I’’m a twin but my twin can’’t come. Would I be welcome if I came on my own?

Every year there are a number of twins who come alone, whether by choice or because of circ*mstances out of their control. Rest assured, if you have lost your twin there is NO BETTER place for people to understand who you are and what you’re going through. It’’s got to be a little bittersweet to come to a festival like this, but on the other hand you will be surrounded by people who can understand you like very few others could. Also: if you’’ve recently lost your twin, you’re still a twin! There’’s no place else where you’ll find so many people who will understand.

Do I have to register?

No; if you wish, you can just pay admission at the gate and attend without registering. For a nominal registration fee, you receive 2 souvenir programs, the opportunity to participate in the parade, the Twins Talent Show or the contests. You also have a chance to take part in the research projects, and have the opportunity to order a group photo. Also, as a registered attendee, you get counted! Without registrations, the committee does not know how many twins were at the festival.

What do I get for my $25.00 registration fee?

One of the most asked questions by twins that have never registered before is, “What do we get for the registration fee?” Below is an explanation of what the registration fee provides for a set of twins:

  • 2 Souvenir Programs
  • Gate Admission for Twins all weekend
  • Ability to participate in the following events
  • Friday Twins Welcome Hot Dog Roast & Get Together
  • Twins Contests
  • Twins Talent Show
  • Twins Research
  • Ability to purchase the Twins Group Photo
  • Inclusion in the Registered Twins Count
  • Eligibility to apply for the Twins Days Royal Court
  • Eligibility to apply for the Twins Days Scholarships

In addition the registration fee helps offset the costs incurred putting on a festival of this size, such as:

    • 24-hour Police Security
    • First Aid/Safety Personnel
    • Tents/Tables/Chairs rental
    • Portable Restrooms and Wash/Hygiene Stations
    • Twins Contests Staging
    • Entertainment
    • Golf Cart/Shuttle Rental
    • Liability Insurance
    • Fireworks

All of these items and services are expenses we do not pass onto the twins. We do our best to keep the registration fee low so that Twins Days is affordable for all!

How much is general admission for those that aren’t registered twins?

The general admission gate fee is $5 per person. Children 5 years old and younger are free. Partial proceeds benefit the Twinsburg Athletic Boosters.

Residents of Twinsburg are free.

What kind of activities are there during the festival?

There’’s entertainment, arts & crafts booths, games/rides for the kids, a beer tent for the adults, a food court; — but most people have fun simply from seeing and meeting all of the twins! Bring comfortable clothing; you’ll do a lot of walking, and the weather is usually pretty hot that time of year.

Where can I stay? Do you offer discounts?

The Twins Days Festival Committee works with area hotels to be sponsors of the Twins Days Festival. Twins Days does not make accommodations or travel arrangements, nor do we negotiate any special rates at these hotels. To find a hotel within a 10-15 drive of the festival grounds, you can search for hotels in the following cities: Twinsburg, Streetsboro, Aurora, Macedonia, Beachwood, and Solon.

Where can I park?

Preferred parking is available at Twinsburg High School and Dodge Intermediate School (quite close to the festival grounds), at a cost of $5 per day for cars, and RVs and buses. Partial proceeds benefit the Twinsburg Athletic Boosters.

Are the festival grounds accessible?

The grounds are generally accessible, although some of the terrain can be a little hilly. A limited number of Handicap parking spots are available quite close to the grounds. Contact the TDFC if you have special parking needs.

Can I bring my pet to the festival?

Pets are not allowed on the festival grounds. The only exceptions are service animals that are specifically trained to assist the physically challenged. Twinsburg is much too hot in August for you to leave your pets in your car. To prevent any problems, please do not bring your pets.

What is the Royal Court?

Each year, a pair of Kings, Queens, Princes and Princesses are selected for the festival. They ride in a special vehicle near the front of the parade, and sit at the review stand at the end of the parade. All Royal Court members get sashes. Kings get crowns, Queens and princesses get tiaras, princes get scepters.
Throughout the weekend, they will act as representatives of the festival to everyone they meet, and be available for photo sessions and media interviews.
There is an application form in the registration packet if you’d like to be considered for the Royal Court (Register Here). To be selected, you must:

  • Be pre-registered by the deadline
  • Have been pre-registered for five of the previous six years of the festival
  • Submit an essay (300 words maximum) on “The Uniqueness of Being a Twin”, and why you would like to be a member of the Twins Days Festival Court.
  • Submit a photo and biography with the application. If selected, these will be published in the souvenir program.
  • Kings/Queens must be at least 18 years old on the date of the festival.
  • Princes/Princesses must be at least 10 years old on the date of the festival.

The Twins Days Festival Committee makes the selection for Royal Court. There is no bias given to identical twins; many fraternal sets have been chosen as member of the Royal Court.

How do I apply for the Twins Days Scholarships?

Each year, the Twins Days Festival awards a $1000 scholarship to help qualified twins with upcoming college expenses. One pair of twins is selected each year to be awarded this scholarship. To qualify, you must:

  1. Be a high school senior
  2. Have registered and attended three of the last five festivals, not including the current years.

For more information, see our Scholarship section.

Also available is the Andrew R. Miller Memorial Scholarship, which awards $1500 to an individual that meets the requirements.

I have more questions that aren’’t answered here. Where can I get more information?
